  These pages demonstrate how some of the tiled wallpaper images from computer wallpaper 1 can be used to make eye-catching web pages. Many people do such things, but then don't bother to make the text readable against the clutter. This can be done by using tables with inside color to contrast with the text, explained below. Notice that text placed directly on the page background would tend to disappear in confusion, especially if it is the same color or luminosity as part of the background. Some web pages make that mistake. Notice that when very light text is printed from a web page, it also disappears on white paper, especially white text on a dark background. If you wish your text to be both readable and printable with current technologies, accept these limitations.

  • The background color of the first column is set like before.
  • In this arrangement, generated in Adobe PageMill 3.0, the last column comes in the middle of the HTML code. You may have to look for it in whatever editor you are using by placing the cursor in various locations, inside and outside the cell in page-viewing mode, and looking for it in source mode.
  • The background image in the last column is then placed just like a background color.
